The Quarry Sonnets

The Quarry Sonnets was a research-based artist workshop held in November 2022 in the Vale de Meios Quarry, located in the Serra de Aires and Candeeiros Natural Park in Portugal. The project, led by Miguel Santos, brought together participants from six European universities, including institutions such as the Limerick School of Art and Design, Bauhaus-University Weimar, and Vilnius Academy of Art. Over the course of a week, the 45 participants engaged in a collaborative effort to explore artistic methods that promote multispecies dialogues. This approach aimed to shift perspectives away from human-centric views, focusing instead on the ecosystems around the quarry.
